About Kay Bela

Hi, I’m Kay.

I’m a licensed therapist and EMDR practitioner who helps people untangle the deeper patterns that keep them feeling stuck — especially patterns connected to anxiety, trauma, and relationships.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and deeply caring. On the outside they often appear dependable and put together. But internally they may feel overwhelmed, anxious, or caught in relationship patterns that keep repeating.

Therapy can be a place where those patterns finally start to make sense — and where meaningful change becomes possible.

I provide EMDR therapy and trauma-informed counseling for adults in Lititz and Lancaster, Pennsylvania, as well as virtual therapy for clients throughout Pennsylvania.

My Background & Training

I am a licensed therapist trained in several evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches that support both emotional insight and practical change.

My work integrates:

EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help process trauma and difficult life experiences

DBT skills (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) to strengthen emotional regulation and coping skills

Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore and understand the different “parts” of yourself with compassion and curiosity

• Body-based trauma insights, influenced by research such as The Body Keeps the Score, which explains how trauma is stored in the nervous system

• Inner child and visualization work to reconnect with younger parts of yourself that may still carry pain or unmet needs

By combining these approaches, therapy can address not only thoughts and behaviors, but also the deeper emotional and nervous system patterns that keep cycles in place.

Why This Work Matters to Me

Many of the struggles people face — anxiety, relationship patterns, addiction dynamics, or feeling disconnected from themselves — don’t happen in isolation.

Often they grow out of experiences where our needs were not fully understood, supported, or safe to express.

Like many people drawn to this work, my interest in therapy is both professional and personal. I’ve seen how relational patterns, family dynamics, and unprocessed experiences can shape the way we relate to ourselves and others.

Those experiences helped me develop a deep respect for how complex healing can be — and how powerful it is when someone finally feels understood and supported in working through difficult patterns.

Healing doesn’t mean becoming someone new. It often means reconnecting with your voice, your identity, and the parts of yourself that have always been there.

My Approach to Therapy

My work often focuses on trauma-driven relational patterns, including:

• Codependency and people-pleasing

• Anxiety and emotional overwhelm

• Addiction dynamics within yourself or relationships

• Identity confusion or feeling disconnected from who you are

• Repeated relationship patterns that are difficult to change

These patterns usually begin as survival strategies — ways your mind and body learned to cope with difficult experiences.

In therapy, we explore these patterns together with curiosity and compassion. Using approaches such as EMDR therapy, DBT skills, and Internal Family Systems, we begin to understand how these patterns formed and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.

What Clients Often Say About Working With Me

Many of the people who come to therapy with me have spent years trying to understand themselves and improve their lives. They may have read books, listened to podcasts, or tried different approaches, but still feel stuck in certain patterns.

Clients often describe therapy with me as:

• Compassionate and non-judgmental

• Insightful and deeply reflective

• Grounded and practical, not just talking in circles

• Supportive while also encouraging real change

Over time, many clients begin to notice shifts such as feeling more connected to themselves, setting healthier boundaries, and experiencing greater clarity in their relationships and decisions.

A Little About Me Personally

Outside the therapy room, I’m a parent and someone who values a grounded and connected life.

I enjoy hiking, being outdoors, staying active, and creating space for meaningful relationships and personal growth. Those values naturally influence the way I approach therapy — with curiosity, compassion, and a belief that people are capable of deep healing and change.
